Our story

In 2018, Reality Crisis spawned from the minds of Kasimir Lehto, a pro snowboarder turned filmmaker and game designer, and Petri Kajander, a tech industry veteran and business artist. The two met while working on Space Nation’s transmedia civilian astronaut training program. Upon recognizing their shared experiences with physical simulations and mixed reality technologies, they sought to create a new social game experience that could harness the unique strengths of Augmented Reality.

In exploring the myriad possibilities of an AR game, the pair kept returning to skateboarding. Like AR, skateboarding expands the ways we interact with the physical dimension. Like skateboarding, AR challenges the limits of imagination itself. Individually, skateboarding and AR alter how individuals perceive and navigate the world. Together, the possibilities – for perception, for navigation, for the world itself – are limitless.

In skateboarding, no one has made more impact than the legendary Rodney Mullen. Rodney isn’t regarded as the most important and certainly the greatest skater of all time because he wrote the book on skateboarding, but because he invented the language necessary to write the book.

To watch him skate is to witness the imagination made manifest, and to hear him speak is to understand that skateboarding is, at its core, a lexicon of individuality and inspiration, the vocabulary of creativity and community.

Throughout his unparalleled career, Rodney has changed skateboarding countless times. Now, in collaboration with Kasimir and Petri, he’s about to change the game again.

What does all of this mean? What is Skatrix?

You have to skate it for yourself.

Skaters hack the world around them by using it in ways never intended to create something new which we share in an open-source way.

Technology

Augmented Reality experiences form the core of the platform. Our games reinterpret ordinary spaces as game environments to unlock the player’s creativity.

We utilize five cutting edge technologies to accomplish this: AR, physics simulations, AI agents, planet scale geolocation services and blockchain. By combining these technologies, we enable people to play games, connect with the community, create and share content.

Skatrix

Skatrix, the first-ever Augmented Reality skateboarding game, urges the players to invent clever ways to use their surrounding architecture and environment. Skatrix gives players both the power to project their creativity into the real world and the chance to actively participate in the community of their fellow skaters.

Skatrix includes local and remote multiplayer game modes, social networking, competitions, geolocated events, marketplace and a unique third-person skater avatar control system.
